Sworn Six of Paladia

The Sworn Six of Paladia are the primary antagonist group of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE. These six elite warriors are bound by a shared oath to annihilate the eight elemental crystals that protect Lapis. Each member commands a unique element and fights with distinctive tactics drawn from Final Fantasy history. Their campaign to shatter the crystals drives the central conflict of the story, beginning with Veritas of the Dark’s destruction of the Earth Crystal in Grandshelt’s Earth Shrine.

This page covers all six confirmed Sworn Six members, their elements, their combat roles, and their story significance. For the world geography these battles inhabit, see the World of Lapis. For the crystals they target, see the Vision roster.

Overview: Who Are the Sworn Six

The Sworn Six of Paladia are an elite group of warriors who have dedicated themselves to shattering the eight elemental crystals of Lapis. Their oath drives them to systematically destroy each crystal, beginning with the Earth Crystal in Grandshelt. Each member is associated with a specific element and wields powers that match both that element and their individual combat philosophy.

The group operates somewhat independently while sharing the common goal of crystal destruction. They appear throughout Rain’s journey across Lapis, each representing a different nation’s challenge. Their arrival in a region typically coincides with escalation of the threat to that region’s crystal.

Veritas of the Dark

Element: Dark Role: Opens the war, destroys the Earth Crystal

Veritas of the Dark is the member who sets the story in motion. At the Earth Shrine in Grandshelt, he shatters the Earth Crystal in front of Rain and Lasswell, destroying their airship and scattering the opening party. He later assaults the Grandshelt capital, demonstrating the power that makes the Sworn Six a genuine threat.

His dark element and armored form make him a formidable early antagonist. He appears first because the Earth Crystal is the story’s inciting incident — without his action, Rain and Lasswell never receive the royal decree to investigate the shrine, Fina never joins the party, and the journey never begins.

His voice actor is Ian Sinclair in English and Akio Otsuka in Japanese.

Veritas of the Heavens

Element: Wind Role: Aerial assault, sky dominance

Veritas of the Heavens dominates the skies with a lance and wind-aspected techniques. He represents the aerial threat to Lapis, using mobility and range to control battlefield positioning. His wind element makes him particularly dangerous in open environments where his reach advantage is maximized.

He is voiced by Ricco Fajardo in English and Show Hayami in Japanese.

Veritas of the Waters

Element: Water Role: Tactical, underhanded combat

Veritas of the Waters uses underhanded tactics alongside a deluge of water magic. Rather than direct confrontation, he prefers to outmaneuver opponents through superior positioning and accumulated advantage. His water magic covers the board with status effects and pressure, making him a fight that rewards patience over aggression.

He is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard in English and Kana Hanazawa in Japanese.

Veritas of the Flame

Element: Fire Role: Direct assault, overwhelming power

Veritas of the Flame takes the most direct approach among the Sworn Six. He is never one to split hairs or overthink a situation — if something needs to be destroyed, he destroys it with a single fiery swing of his axe. His combat philosophy is simplicity and overwhelming force: hit hard, hit fast, and move on.

This makes him dangerous in a different way than Veritas of the Waters. Where the Waters member creates complex tactical problems, Veritas of the Flame simply removes obstacles. Parties facing him need defensive Vision coverage and healing to survive his offensive tempo.

He is voiced by Paul St. Peter in English and Kenta Miyake in Japanese.

Veritas of the Earth

Element: Earth Role: Immovable defense, territorial control

Veritas of the Earth fights with a gargantuan shield and earth magic. His unique sense of honor makes him crave battle with those stronger than him, even when his mission dictates otherwise. This creates an interesting dynamic: he is the most defensively-oriented member of the Sworn Six, but his desire for worthy opponents can pull him into aggressive positioning.

His earth magic and shield make him the most tank-like of the six. Breaking through his defense requires coordinated stagger timing and elemental coverage that ignores his earth resistances.

He is voiced by Kieran Flitton in English and Kenta Miyake in Japanese.

Veritas of the Light

Element: Light Role: Capricious offense, devastating ranged attacks

Veritas of the Light is the most volatile member of the Sworn Six. She can fly into a rage at a moment’s notice and employs any means necessary to accomplish her objective. Her light-aspected attacks are devastating, and she fires salvos at enemies using the cannons fused to her gauntlets.

Her combat style is unpredictable offense. Where the other Sworn Six members have clear tactical identities, Veritas of the Light shifts between aggressive burst and sustained damage depending on battlefield conditions. This makes her the most challenging to prepare for in advance.

She is voiced by Morgan Berry in English and Yoshino Nanjo in Japanese.

Crystal Targets and Progression

The Sworn Six each target a specific crystal as part of their campaign:

  • Veritas of the Dark: Earth Crystal (destroyed at the opening)
  • Veritas of the Heavens: Wind Crystal (associated with Dilmagia sky territory)
  • Veritas of the Waters: Water Crystal (associated with Olderion)
  • Veritas of the Flame: Fire Crystal (associated with Zoldaad)
  • Veritas of the Earth: Earth Crystal remnants or another region
  • Veritas of the Light: Ice Crystal or final confrontation

The remaining crystal targets are confirmed as the story progresses. Protecting what remains after the Earth Crystal falls is the central motivation for Rain’s journey.

Combat Strategy Against the Sworn Six

Each Sworn Six member requires different strategic approaches:

Against Veritas of the Dark: The opening fight teaches the stagger system. His dark element has no inherent weakness, but hitting his stagger gauge consistently opens Extra Phase for Vision Resonance.

Against Veritas of the Heavens: Wind element. Use earth and water abilities to counter. His mobility advantage means controlling the timeline is critical — if he acts first too often, his lance reach becomes overwhelming.

Against Veritas of the Waters: Water element. Use lightning and earth abilities. His tactical nature means he will try to accumulate advantage; prevent status effects from stacking by clearing them quickly.

Against Veritas of the Flame: Fire element. Use water and ice abilities. His aggressive tempo requires defensive Vision coverage on at least one party member. Prioritize healing over damage when his axe is swinging.

Against Veritas of the Earth: Earth element. Use fire and wind abilities. His defense demands coordinated stagger timing. Bring physical damage Visions that can break his guard faster than he rebuilds it.

Against Veritas of the Light: Light element. Use dark abilities. Her unpredictable offense requires flexible Vision loadouts — be ready to swap crystals between phases if her pattern shifts.

Story Significance

The Sworn Six exist as the consequence of Lapis’s crystal-dependent civilization. Eight crystals protect the world; six warriors have sworn to destroy them. This creates a conflict that is not simply good versus evil, but two different visions of what Lapis should become.

Rain’s party represents protection and preservation — keeping the crystal system intact so the world it sustains can continue. The Sworn Six represent a more radical interpretation: the crystals have kept Lapis in a static state for too long, and only by shattering them can true change come.

This philosophical dimension makes the Sworn Six more than simple boss fights. They are ideologically motivated warriors, not mindless monsters. Understanding their position — even disagreeing with it — helps contextualize why they fight as effectively as they do.
