Who Aileen is

Aileen is an original Lapis Vision, one of the nine confirmed original crystals alongside Charlotte, Leah, Tronn, Amelia, Camille, Wilhelm, Victoria, and Ayaka. She appears as a weaponsmith — someone who forges powerful weapons from adamantite, a rare material found in dangerous crypts and as side content rewards. In battle she wields a Pilebunker and specializes in defense-lowering moves. Out of battle she is the crafting system for the party’s best weapons.

How adamantite forging works

Based on preview descriptions and the Japan Expo reveal: Aileen takes adamantite as input and produces a weapon as output. The weapon tier is tied to the quality and quantity of adamantite you feed her. Higher-grade adamantite from harder content produces stronger weapons. The crafting is not a menu you open at any town — it appears to be tied to Aileen’s presence in your active party or Vision roster and a specific location or trigger in the world.

Adamantite is not a common drop. It comes from dangerous crypts, side content rewards, and optional dungeon clears. It does not appear to drop from normal random encounters or main story bosses. The implication is that you will be selective about when you forge, not that you will farm adamantite continuously. The completionist path — finishing optional dungeons, defeating Gilgamesh, clearing Chamber of Arms encounters — is how you accumulate enough adamantite to forge the best weapons.

Where to find adamantite

Square Enix has not published a complete adamantite drop table. Based on the systems that surround it:

Dangerous crypts and side dungeons: The optional dungeons that sit off the main crystal road are the most likely source. Completionist players who clear every optional location will accumulate more adamantite than players who stick to the main path.

Side content rewards: Gilgamesh, the Colosseum, esper trials, and Chamber of Arms encounters may reward adamantite as part of their completion rewards. The Sephiroth challenge with its special reward may also include adamantite or a forging material.

Treasure Chests and Treasure Maps: Some hidden chests in dangerous areas may contain adamantite or materials for Aileen’s forge.

Do not sell adamantite. It is the crafting input for the strongest weapons in the game, and there is no confirmation that a vendor offers equal value for it.

What to forge

Square Enix has not published the full forging tree. The Japan Expo reveal described Aileen crafting powerful weapons, and the connection to the Chamber of Arms is logical: Chamber weapons are the legendary tier earned through combat, while Aileen-forged weapons may be the upgrade path for those chamber weapons or a parallel legendary tier earned through crafting.

Until the retail campaign is out and this page can be updated with specific weapon names and forging recipes, use this rule: forge when you have enough adamantite to produce a weapon that is meaningfully better than what you are currently equipping. Do not forge casually with low-grade materials. The completionist loop rewards patience.

Aileen in your party or vision roster

Aileen must be in your active party or in your Vision roster for the forging system to be available. If she is only in your roster and not actively equipped on a character, the game may require you to have her as an active Vision to access the forge. Plan to slot her on whichever character has an open Vision slot when you start taking optional content seriously.

Her combat effectiveness as a Pilebunker wielder with defense-lowering moves makes her useful in the party even when you are not forging. She is not purely a crafting NPC — she contributes to stagger and damage in battle, which means you are not sacrificing a combat slot when you bring her.

How this connects to Chamber of Arms

The Chamber of Arms page covers the vault of legendary weapons sealed behind dangerous enemies. The logical connection to Aileen is that Chamber weapons are the base legendary tier, and Aileen’s forging is the upgrade path that pushes those base weapons to their maximum potential. If this structure holds, then completing Chamber of Arms encounters gives you the weapons, and feeding adamantite to Aileen makes them stronger.

This connection is logical but unconfirmed. Square Enix may have designed the two systems as parallel paths rather than sequential ones. Check this page after launch for specific confirmation.

Completionist context

Aileen’s forging is part of the 60-to-80-hour completionist path, not the 30-to-40-hour main story. You will not need forged weapons to finish the eight crystal chapters. You will need them if you are attempting Gilgamesh, Sephiroth, Chamber of Arms seal enemies, and the Colosseum’s highest brackets.
