FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE World of Lapis

Eight crystals, five confirmed nations, and the towns you walk in Chapter 1.

World of Lapis

Lapis is the world of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE: a single-player HD-2D RPG from Square Enix and Lancarse, rebuilt from the first story arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius without gacha. Crystals bless the land. Airships stitch continents together. Dwarves still work forges beside human engineers. Magitek armies test that peace. Eight elemental crystals hold the balance; the Sworn Six of Paladia mean to break them. The campaign launches October 22, 2026 (Steam lists October 23 in Japan). Chapter 1 is playable today, and that save transfers into the full map.

This page is geography and the story hook, not a boss script. Party bios live on Party Members. Crystallized heroes live on the Vision Roster. Optional hunts, character episodes, and adamantite loops live in side content. If you are still in the opening chapter, pair this map with the demo walkthrough and Getting Started.

Story hook: the Earth Shrine

The Kingdom of Knights, Grandshelt, lived quietly under crystal light. Rain, commander of the airship squadron, receives a royal decree: investigate the Earth Shrine, where the barrier has waned, and take Lasswell — childhood friend and deputy commander — with him. In the innermost chamber they meet a man in black armor. His power overwhelms them. The Earth Crystal shatters. Their airship is wrecked. Comrades fall.

When they limp home, Grandshelt is already under attack by that same armored man: Veritas of the Dark, voiced by Ian Sinclair in English and Akio Otsuka in Japanese. They rescue the king and lose again. To protect the remaining crystals scattered across the world, Rain and Lasswell leave in pursuit, joined by Fina, the enigmatic maiden they met in Grandshelt. None of them yet see the Sworn Six of Paladia clearly. That is the entire opening the demo is built to teach.

Grandshelt and the town of Mitra

Grandshelt is the kingdom of knights in the isles of the same name. It housed the Earth Crystal. Its royal guard still calls itself the Knights of Grandshelt even after the shrine disaster. Rain and Lasswell are squadron officers first, world-savior myths later. The capital, the shrine road, and the first overworld are the Chapter 1 footprint.

Mitra is the coastal town south on that road, the settlement you actually rest in after the crystal falls. Treat the inn as a hub, not flavor. The inn postbox is the early mail hook: letters, errands, and the kind of small requests that turn into side content before you own an airship. Check it whenever you return from the woods or the shrine. Skipping the postbox is how demo players miss an early Vision lead, a consumable, or a pointer toward the first Sanctum of Light. If a box is flagged in the demo walkthrough, clear it before you rush the capital.

Sanctums of Light appear on this continent first. They are not towns; they are the buildings that hand you legacy Visions such as the Warrior of Light or Cloud. Walk in, play the fragment, walk out with a crystal. Map them the same way you map inns.

Dilmagia, the Machinopolis

Dilmagia sits in Dirnado, the industrial nation of wind. Engineers fill a city forged in steel — the birthplace of airship technology. The first Cid, a master mechanic, united man and sky here. The name stopped meaning one person. Each age’s finest engineer now takes the title. Lid, voiced by Elsie Lovelock and Ayaka Ohashi, is an airship engineer from Dirnado who has worked the family forge since she could hold a wrench, and she is in easy contention for the next Cid. She fights beside Mechabo, her mechanical chocobo.

This is where the party stops borrowing wrecked royal ships and starts traveling on purpose. Official copy is explicit: as the journey unfolds you gain an airship that opens dungeons and foes you could only see from the ground. Dilmagia is also the logical home of the Wind Crystal. If you care about jobs that mix hammers, machines, and earth utility, Lid’s join is the reason to linger. Mechabo’s extra skills are subquests, not automatic level-ups.

Olderion, the Aquapolis

Olderion is the capital of the Olderion Federation, blessed with crystalline waters. A clan called the Wardens of the Waters has guarded it for generations. The city is kept safe by the prayers of the Maiden of Water and by an esper the locals name the God of Water. Before airships crowded the sky, Olderion was a shipbuilding giant and a naval hub. It houses the Water Crystal.

Nichol is the named strategist from this federation — tactical, objective, raised among Wardens, and frequently pulled into Rain’s chaos. He is an ally tied to this water nation, not a seventh starter on the party page. Fina’s ability to speak with espers matters here more than anywhere else on the early map: Siren (wind and water, Lunatic Voice that may inflict Sleep or Silence) sits in the same elemental neighborhood as this city’s prayers. Do not confuse espers with Visions. Espers join for three turns and finish; Visions occupy the crystal slot.

Zoldaad Empire

Zoldaad is a powerful military nation and the home of the Fire Crystal. Rumors say it will use the airships and magitek weaponry it has mass-produced in recent years to invade its neighbors. Life under the empire is hard. Unrest has already produced a rebel army.

Jake, voiced by Jonah Scott and Yoshimasa Hosoya, leads that rebellion. He looks breezy. He is not. Coin Toss and Gamble Shot are how he fights; ending imperial suffering is why he fights. Original Visions with Zoldaad blood — Amelia the fire-gun maid of the crown prince, Wilhelm the enmity-drawing general, Camille the mercenary — are why this empire is also a recruit region, not only a dungeon. Veritas of the Flame (Paul St. Peter / Kenta Miyake) is the Sworn Six member who matches this crystal’s temper: huge, direct, a single fiery axe swing. Magitek here is the visual cousin of the airship you will eventually fly. Ifrit’s Hellfire is the esper answer to a fire continent, not a substitute for breaking the imperial army on the timeline.

Mysidia, the Magiapolis

Mysidia is the legendary city of mages. Some believe it fell to ruin. Others claim it still stands. None can say for certain until the party arrives. Its advanced magical civilization is said to host the Ice Crystal. Sakura, voiced by AmaLee and Aoi Yuki, is the sage who represents it: a girl in appearance, an ancient in speech, a caster whose ceiling sits above ordinary black and white mages. Victoria (dark magic, Poison, Silence) and Ayaka (heal and dispel) are original Visions with ties to her school.

Shiva’s Diamond Dust is the esper you expect on an ice continent. Tronn and Shantotto are the Visions you expect on Sakura. Do not walk into Mysidia still treating Fina as your only mage. The Magiapolis is also where the fairy-tale tone of Lapis breaks: a nation that was a rumor becomes a map marker, and the Ice Crystal becomes a target for the Sworn Six the same way Earth already fell.

Eight crystals, six sworn, five espers

Square Enix’s story bible for Resonance is eight elemental crystals, not a four-crystal classic. Confirmed homes so far: Earth in Grandshelt (destroyed in the opening), Wind in Dirnado around Dilmagia, Water in Olderion, Fire in Zoldaad, Ice in Mysidia. The remaining crystals are still being placed in official briefs; do not invent shrines that have not been named. The plot is to protect what is left after Earth is gone.

The Sworn Six of Paladia are the hunters. Veritas of the Dark opens the war. Veritas of the Heavens (Ricco Fajardo / Show Hayami) dominates the sky with a lance and wind-aspected techniques. Veritas of the Waters (Colleen Clinkenbeard / Kana Hanazawa) uses underhanded tactics and a deluge of water magic. Veritas of the Flame and Veritas of the Earth (Kieran Flitton) fill the brutal and immovable seats. Veritas of the Light (Morgan Berry / Yoshino Nanjo) completes the six. They are bosses and story walls, not party slots.

Espers confirmed for the road: Ifrit (Hellfire), Shiva (Diamond Dust), Titan (Gaia’s Wrath), Siren (Lunatic Voice), and Ramuh (Judgement Bolt). They cost heavy MP, stay for three turns, and finish on the last. Summon them in the combat guide sense — as a burst, not as a seventh fighter.

How you travel, and how much is in the demo

On foot you get woods, shrines, towns, and the first Sanctums. On airship you get the rest of Lapis: landings that were visible but unreachable, optional dungeons, and the powerful foes Square Enix keeps in the completionist bucket. Combat on that road is turn-based with a timeline, stagger, and Resonance. There is no ATB. The game is single-player.

Chapter 1, playable today, is Grandshelt’s disaster, Mitra, the capital assault, and Fina’s join. It is not Dilmagia’s docks, Olderion’s waters, Zoldaad’s magitek, or Mysidia’s rumor made real. Play the demo for the hook and the inn postbox. Use side content as the list of what to finish before you take off. Watch trailers if you want the later continents in motion. Compare editions only after you know you want the airship cosmetics; the map itself does not change with SKU.

Return to the Characters Hub when you need the index, to Party Members when you need who boards in which nation, and to the Vision Roster when a Sanctum of Light is on the next screen.

Walk Mitra’s inn, check the postbox, then push toward Dilmagia, Olderion, Zoldaad, and the rumor of Mysidia. The crystals are the plot. The towns are where the side stories live. The demo is the first continent only — the rest of Lapis opens when the game launches October 22, 2026.
