FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE Sanctums and crystals
One Vision per character, 26 in total, mixed through affinity and a cost cap — not a gacha banner.
Visions are the crystallized heroes of Final Fantasy history riding on your Lapis party. FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is a single-player HD-2D RPG with no gacha; you do not roll these crystals on a banner. Square Enix’s stated count is 26. Each living character equips one Vision at a time. You earn new crystals from Sanctums of Light and from story events, raise bond and affinity to unlock more of that crystal’s kit, then optionally park learned abilities on a different Vision inside a cost cap.
This page is the unlock and loadout briefing. Rankings live on the Vision tier list. Names and roles live on the Vision roster. Mixing kits as an accessible job system is Jobs and Abilities. Come back to the Guides Hub when you need a different topic.
One Vision per character, not a museum
Rain, Lasswell, Fina, and later Jake, Lid, and Sakura each wear a single crystal in battle. You can collect more than four Visions over the campaign, but the fight only cares about the four that are equipped. A fifth crystal in the inventory is a future swap, an ability donor, or a Sanctum trophy — it is not a fifth actor on the timeline.
That rule is why Sweeping Stagger and Extra Phase matter. Vision Resonance, the cinematic finisher you spend after staggering every enemy in one turn, uses the crystals you actually brought. Hoarding names without equipping them does not make Extra Phase louder. The Combat Guide explains the stagger gate; this page explains how the crystals get onto the party in the first place.
Sanctums of Light and story events
Square Enix has pointed to two sources: Sanctums of Light in the world, and story scenes that hand you a crystal as the plot requires. Treat Sanctums as shrines you should enter when the map marks them, not as optional lore rooms. If a Sanctum is on the Chapter 1 path, go in before you leave the region. The demo is playable today and will not give you the full set of 26; it will teach the pickup loop so October 22 does not start with an empty slot.
Do not expect a gacha pity counter. There is no duplicate rainbow, no paid step-up, and no reason to save a currency that does not exist. If a preview screenshot shows Cloud or the Warrior of Light, that is a story or Sanctum beat, not a rate-up. Footage of those crystals sits with trailers and the Warrior of Light clip attached to this page.
Confirmed crystals and what they are for
The published roster is not the full 26, and this wiki will not invent the missing names. Confirmed Visions include:
- Cloud — physical damage with lightning.
- Warrior of Light — the series’ original knight, highlighted in his own trailer.
- Terra, Clive, Tidus, Zidane, Noctis, Squall, Y’shtola, and Shantotto — series leads with kits you will learn in-game rather than from a fabricated stat block.
- Charlotte — ice and water knight.
- Leah — white mage.
- Tronn — black mage built to push stagger.
- Aileen — weaponsmith who uses Pilebunker and forges with adamantite.
Sephiroth is a challenge encounter that grants a special reward. He is not a starting Vision and he is not waiting in the Chapter 1 inn. Do not build a first-hour team around a fight you cannot reach in the demo. That hunt is previewed on Side Content.
Party members are not Visions. Rain (Clifford Chapin / Nobuhiko Okamoto), Lasswell (Alejandro Saab / Yusuke Kobayashi), and Fina (Lizzie Freeman / Akane Fujita) are the Grandshelt humans who wear the crystals. Jake, Lid, and Mysidia’s Sakura join as the story expands. Use the party page and the party tier list for living roles; use this page for the crystals on their backs. The Characters hub ties both together.
Bond, affinity, and the cost cap
Bond and affinity are the progression on a Vision you already own. Using the crystal, following its scenes, and investing in its relationship unlock more of its ability list. You do not need a second copy. Once an ability is learned, you may equip it on another Vision as long as you stay inside the cost cap. That cap is the job system: a white-mage heal on Leah can travel to a knight crystal if you can afford the slot; a stagger spell from Tronn can ride on Cloud if the budget allows.
Square Enix has not published a numeric cost table in the briefings this wiki is allowed to use, so we will not invent one. Play the menus. If a skill is grey, you are over budget, not under-leveled in a gacha sense. Jobs and Abilities is the mixing guide, including the Digital Deluxe Archwitch’s Grimoire that grants the Fel Meteor Limit Burst. Edition notes are on the Pre-order Guide and the editions tool.
How to hunt them in Chapter 1
In the demo, pick up every Sanctum you are allowed to enter and every crystal the story places in your hand. Equip one on Rain immediately so Extra Phase has something to show. Put a restorative kit near Fina and a stagger tool on whoever acts before a boss turn. Then stop. Level restrictions in Chapter 1 exist so you cannot finish the affinity tree of all 26 before the Earth Shrine. Save transfer still matters: crystals you earned should be waiting on October 22. Follow the Demo Guide so you do not skip a Sanctum thinking it is a post-credits room.
World context — Grandshelt, the Earth Shrine, Dilmagia, Olderion, Zoldaad, Mysidia, Mitra — lives on the world page. Calendar details live on the release date page. Official listings live on Links. First-hour habits live in Getting Started. Device support lives on Controls.
Do not wait for a twenty-sixth name before you care about the first four crystals you actually own. Bond the Vision on your commander, learn two abilities that another slot can wear, and only then chase the next Sanctum. Resonance is a party of four, not a museum of twenty-six.
