Game overview

Hope resonates within the crystals

Magitek airship flying over the world map in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is Square Enix and Lancarse's first HD-2D entry in the series: a single-player turn-based RPG that rebuilds the Lapis arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius without gacha. Rain, Lasswell, and Fina leave Grandshelt after Veritas of the Dark shatters the Earth Crystal. Combat uses a visible timeline, elemental stagger, and cinematic Resonance finishers. Equip Visions of series legends such as Cloud and the Warrior of Light, call espers for three-turn bursts, and chase side hunts from Gilgamesh to Ultima Weapon. A free Chapter 1 demo is playable on every platform, with save data carrying into the full game on October 22, 2026 (Steam lists October 23 in Japan). Start with the beginner guide, play through the demo walkthrough, then study combat, Visions, the party, and the Vision tier list. Compare editions and PC requirements before you pre-order.

Quick start

Five steps from the free demo to a launch-ready party.

  1. 1

    Download the Chapter 1 demo

Grab the free demo on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, or Steam. It covers the full opening chapter (about three to five hours) and your save carries into the retail game. Follow the demo walkthrough so you do not miss Mitra, early Visions, or the first Sanctum of Light.

  2. 2

    Learn the timeline and stagger

Resonance is turn-based with no ATB bar. Watch the timeline at the top of the screen, hit elemental weaknesses to fill stagger gauges, and bank a Sweeping Stagger for a Resonance finisher. The combat guide explains Extra Phase timing.

  3. 3

Build around Rain, Lasswell, and Fina

Your opening party is the Grandshelt airship commander Rain, his deputy Lasswell, and the mysterious maiden Fina, later joined by Jake and Lid. Read the party page before you lock jobs and ability costs.

  4. 4

    Hunt Vision crystals

Story events and Sanctums of Light unlock crystallized heroes — Cloud, the Warrior of Light, Terra, Clive, Noctis, and more. Equip one Vision per character, then mix learned skills within the cost cap. See how to get Visions and the Vision tier list.

  5. 5

Pick an edition before November 6

Standard is $49.99. Digital Deluxe adds Magitek chocobo armor and the Archwitch’s Grimoire. Pre-order grants the Magitek Airship pack; early purchase through 8:59 a.m. PT on November 6, 2026 adds the Squire Kickstart Pack. Compare every bonus on the editions tool.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers drawn from Square Enix briefings and the Chapter 1 demo.

When does FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE launch?

Worldwide on October 22, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Japanese storefronts list Steam as October 23 because of timezone. Details live on the release date page.

Is this a remake of Brave Exvius or a gacha game?

Neither. Square Enix rebuilt the first Lapis story arc as a premium single-player RPG with no gacha. Combat, jobs, and many scenes are new. Start with the game overview.

Does the demo save transfer?

Yes. Square Enix confirmed Chapter 1 save data carries into the full game. Some level caps apply in the demo. See the demo guide.

Which languages does this wiki cover?

English, French, German, and Spanish. The Steam build also lists Japanese, Korean, and Chinese; this wiki stays on the four European languages Square Enix ships with interface and subtitles.

Is there multiplayer?

No. FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is a single-player RPG. You play the campaign alone.

Where should I go after the demo?

Read combat, Visions, the Vision roster, then check PC requirements if you are on Steam.

Ready for October 22?

Finish the Chapter 1 demo, lock in a Vision plan, and compare editions before launch. The beginner guide is the shortest path into the rest of the wiki.
