FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE Party Members

Rain, Lasswell, Fina, Jake, Lid, and Sakura — voices, roles, and how they fight.

Party Members

IGN’s September 2026 preview mapped the jobs more tightly than the trailers: Rain as the fire-sword lead, Lasswell as the cooler swordsman, Fina as an archer who also heals, and Lid as a hammer-and-stone fighter who can grant her turn to someone else while chasing the Cid title. Use those roles in the combat guide before you spend magicite.

The traveling party in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is small on purpose. You command living allies, not a gacha box: Rain and Lasswell leave the Kingdom of Grandshelt after Veritas of the Dark destroys the Earth Crystal, Fina joins as the enigmatic maiden of that shrine, and Jake, Lid, and later Sakura board as the airship pushes into Dilmagia, Zoldaad, and Mysidia. Visions are a separate layer — one crystal per fighter — so this page stays on the people you swap in the lineup. For the crystallized roster, use the Vision Roster. For nations and crystals, use World of Lapis.

The full game launches October 22, 2026 (Steam lists October 23 in Japan). Chapter 1 is playable today, and demo saves transfer. That opening stretch is Rain, Lasswell, and Fina only. Learn their jobs and stagger roles before the later names arrive; the combat guide and jobs guide explain timeline, Extra Phase, and ability cost. This is a single-player RPG with no ATB bar.

Rain

Rain is the main protagonist and commander of Grandshelt’s airship squadron, entrusted with that post at a young age. Clifford Chapin voices him in English; Nobuhiko Okamoto voices him in Japanese. Bright, earnest, and deeply principled, he refuses to pick a side when lives are on the line, yet he carries complicated feelings toward his father Raegen, who left the family and vanished. Impulsive enough to drag Lasswell into trouble, he still reads as the knight other soldiers trust.

In battle Rain is a front-line physical fighter who can be steered toward spellblade kits once Vision abilities stay equipped under the cost cap. Pair him with a stagger-heavy Vision if you want Sweeping Stagger often, or with a Defender crystal if you need him to live through Veritas-scale hits. The official overview trailer on this page is the best look at his airship command and the HD-2D presentation around him.

Lasswell

Lasswell is Rain’s deputy commander, childhood friend, and adopted brother. Alejandro Saab voices him in English; Yusuke Kobayashi voices him in Japanese. Serious, disciplined, and Rain’s equal in a duel, he is the model soldier both subordinates and superiors trust. Orphaned young and raised by Rain’s family, he idolizes Raegen even as Rain cannot. Official copy is blunt: he often gets pulled along by Rain’s impulses.

Lasswell is the cleaner knight on the timeline — a physical attacker who can hold a Defender or breaker Vision without looking like a mismatch. If Rain is the one who opens fights, Lasswell is the one who finishes the stagger bar. Keep their jobs complementary rather than identical; two copies of the same cost-heavy kit will starve Extra Phase. See jobs for how Dualcast, Spellblade Dual Wield, and other inherited skills sit on either brother.

Fina

Fina is the enigmatic maiden who appears from the Earth Crystal with every memory gone except her name. Lizzie Freeman voices her in English; Akane Fujita voices her in Japanese. Cheerful and pure-hearted, she fights with white magic and a bow, and she can speak with espers — Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, Siren, Ramuh, and others the party later calls. She cannot remember where those skills came from, or why the summons answer her.

Build Fina as the medic and esper battery. Leah’s white-mage crystal is the obvious early pairing; Y’shtola offers stagger plus healing if you want her turns to do two jobs. Leave physical Visions on Rain and Lasswell unless you are testing a bow-breaker experiment. Fina is in the Chapter 1 demo from the shrine sequence onward, so her voice and kit are the ones you can practice today. The demo walkthrough flags the scenes where she joins.

Jake

Jake leads the rebel army opposing the Zoldaad Empire. Jonah Scott voices him in English; Yoshimasa Hosoya voices him in Japanese. He comes off breezy and easily distracted, but the official profile is clear: he will do whatever it takes to end his countrymen’s suffering under magitek rule. In battle he makes luck a weapon — Coin Toss and Gamble Shot are the named examples — so his turns are high variance compared with Rain’s straight sword work.

Jake is a later join, not a demo fighter. Slot him when the story reaches Zoldaad’s Fire Crystal, imperial forges, and the rebel camps. Chance kits reward stagger setups you already control: if Rain and Lasswell have emptied gauges, Jake’s gamble hits land on broken defense. Do not treat him as a tank. For empire geography and why the rebels exist, read World of Lapis.

Lid

Lid is an airship engineer from Dirnado. Elsie Lovelock voices her in English; Ayaka Ohashi voices her in Japanese. She has worked the family forge since she could hold a wrench, and she is in easy contention for the next Cid — the title Dilmagia awards to the finest engineer of each age, no longer a single person’s name. She fights beside Mechabo, a mechanical chocobo she built herself. Special subquests grow Mechabo’s skills; that is her side-content loop, not a second party slot.

Lid joins after the party needs Dilmagia’s docks and the Wind Crystal’s industrial nation. Official footage frames her as an attacker who still brings utility: hammer hits from Mechabo, machine-aspected skills, and a path into earth magic on some level-up boards. If you like jobs that mix physical turns with gadget tools, she is the one to invest. Side content is where Mechabo’s extra skills live. Controls help if you are swapping her in and out of the active four.

Sakura

Sakura is a sage of Mysidia, the Magiapolis. AmaLee voices her in English; Aoi Yuki voices her in Japanese. She appears to be a young girl; her true age is unknown. She speaks like an ancient soul, and many believe she is far older than she looks. Her magic sits a cut above other mages. Official text leaves her origin a mystery on purpose.

Sakura is the latest of the six named party members. She arrives when the campaign reaches the Ice Crystal and the city of mages that some Lapis folk still call a fairy tale. Treat her as a dedicated caster: black-mage Visions such as Tronn, Shantotto, or Terra amplify what she already does, while a white-mage crystal wastes her ceiling. She is also the story hinge for Mysidia’s secrets and for several original Visions with ties to her school. She is not in the Chapter 1 demo.

Roles, jobs, and the timeline

The active party is a short list you customize by swapping members and Visions. Abilities learned from one crystal can stay equipped after you switch, as long as they fit the cost cap — that is the job system in this game, not a separate crystal job wheel. Dualcast, Spellblade Dual Wield, and elemental damage boosts are the examples Square Enix has shown. Plan Rain and Lasswell as flexible cores, Fina as support, Jake as a luck striker, Lid as a machine attacker, and Sakura as late-game magic. Rankings for those roles belong on the party tier list, not here.

Combat recap, only as needed: watch the timeline at the top of the screen, exploit weaknesses to fill stagger, bank a Sweeping Stagger, then fire one Resonance. There is no ATB. The game is single-player. Deeper timing, Extra Phase, and esper three-turn bursts are in the combat guide. New players should still start with Getting Started.

Veritas of the Dark — Ian Sinclair in English, Akio Otsuka in Japanese — is the armored man who shatters the Earth Crystal and hunts the rest. He is the face of the Sworn Six of Paladia, not a party slot. A mysterious woman bound to him travels with Bahamut and fights with heavy offensive magic; she is a story figure, not one of the six above. Nichol, a strategist from the Olderion Federation and a Warden of the Waters by blood, is a named ally tied to the Aquapolis rather than a seventh starter. Antagonist geography lives on World of Lapis.

Return to the Characters Hub when you only need the index. Watch trailers if you want more footage than the overview clip on this page. Demo timing is on demo launch.

Chapter 1 is the only stretch playable today. Finish it with Rain, Lasswell, and Fina, then wait for Jake, Lid, and Sakura when the campaign launches October 22, 2026. Your demo save transfers, so the voices you hear now are the same credits that carry into the full roster — practice their jobs here, and do not rebuild from scratch on launch day.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from Square Enix briefings and the Chapter 1 demo.

Who voices Rain, Lasswell, and Fina?

Rain is Clifford Chapin / Nobuhiko Okamoto. Lasswell is Alejandro Saab / Yusuke Kobayashi. Fina is Lizzie Freeman / Akane Fujita. Jake, Lid, and Sakura credits are in the table above.

When do Jake, Lid, and Sakura join?

After Chapter 1. Lid ties to Dilmagia's Cid title, Jake to the Zoldaad rebellion, and Sakura to Mysidia. The demo playable today is Rain, Lasswell, and Fina. See the demo walkthrough.

How do jobs work on party members?

Each fighter equips one Vision. Skills learned from a crystal can stay on after you switch, within a cost cap. That inherited kit is the job layer. Full rules: jobs and combat.

Is Veritas of the Dark playable?

No. Veritas of the Dark (Ian Sinclair / Akio Otsuka) is the Sworn Six antagonist who destroys the Earth Crystal. He is not a party member. Story context: World of Lapis.

Where should I rank the six?

Use the party tier list for role order. This page is bios, voices, and join timing. Visions that change those roles are on the Vision Roster.
